Stewart Roche, actor and playwright will provide a performance workshop for writers participating in the Swift and Vanessa festival.

The workshop will focus on supporting writers presenting their work to an audience. Workshop capacity – 12 participants.

Stewart Roche’s first original play Revenant had its world premiere in the New Theatre in November 2013 and was nominated for the Stewart Parker Award. It was revived in 2023 and won Best Production at the Buxton Fringe Festival. In August 2018 The Fetch Wilson premiered at the Pleasance during the Edinburgh Fringe.  He has a long association with Bewley’s Café Theatre, with several productions either premiering or being revived there. These include The Judge’s HouseWringerThe Twenty ClubLost Hearts (adapted with Michael James Ford), A Christmas Visit and most recently the stage version of Shard.

His first radio play Hunter premiered on Dublin City FM in October 2020. He followed this up with Shard, which was commissioned by BBC Radio 4 and broadcast in July 2023. Film work includes the shorts Bittern and Where Still Waters Lie, the latter of which played in over 30 festivals worldwide and won or was nominated for a dozen awards. His film Watchtower was selected by Screen Ireland for the Perspectives Scheme in 2025. His latest feature Pilgrim Soul is currently in development  with Wavewalker films.
